Overview

Under the patronage of Saint Cecilia, we dedicate this apostolate to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

We wish to express our thanks and gratitude to Mrs. Colleen Hammond, author of "Dressing with Dignity", and to Mrs. Stacy McDonald, author of "Raising Maidens of Virtue", whose books have provided us with much insight and inspiration.

Saint Cecilia Classical Productions is a new pro-life, pro-family, music-based, Catholic apologetics apostolate. Briefly stated, our two basic goals are: to help restore to women the dignity of true womanhood which has been lost since the "cultural revolution" of the Sixties; and to advance the culture of life by the promotion of authentic Catholic family values.

In an old prayer book, “Hail Holy Queen” (1928 edition), we found the following statement  which aptly describes our present day culture.

"If the standards of morals in a country or age is low, you may be sure that it is because the women of that country or age are lax in their morals; for women, being naturally more virtuous than men, are looked up to by men as models in matters pertaining to modesty and purity……A woman should never lose respect for her own body, for it is the work of God; it is the instrument and companion of her soul and the temple of the Holy Ghost, destined for future glorification..….A woman may not be expensively dressed, or wearing the latest “fad” clothing. She may not have those attractions which are most admired by the world; but if she has the virtues of modesty and purity, she has something that money cannot buy, a treasure which will outlast all the fading glitter of the world”.

The Devil does not want woman to be holy, virtuous, modest or pure; he wants them to be just the opposite, and our society today is going right along with his plans. In her article, “The Dignity of True Femininity”, Dr. Anne Marie McDonnell illustrates well the extent of the problem. She says:

“For a woman to live according to Catholic teaching in today’s society she needs heroic virtue. Every form of media, including television, movies, magazines, books, computers, music, and theater all assault women’s human dignity, often portraying her in a pornographic manner as an object of lust."

This loss of dignity for women has also been accompanied by a corresponding breakdown in the stability of the family. This breakdown has, in turn, directly impacted the Church’s efforts to build a new culture of life.

In many of his writings, Pope John Paul II has consistently stressed the importance of the family as the basic unit of society. If we are to be successful in creating this new culture of life, there must be an authentic spiritual renewal of the family and this renewal must start with the youth of today, for it is they who will be the foundations of the families of tomorrow.

One of the main factors that influenced the creation of this apostolate was the realization that there are very few good role models available in today’s society for young people, especially for girls and young women. So while our outreach is to teens and young adults, and all families in general, our focus is aimed somewhat more toward the women of these groups simply because, in matters of morality, men will tend to follow the lead of women; and also because, whether as a single person or as the wife and mother of a family, it is the woman who bears the greatest brunt of the attacks of the forces of evil in today’s society. Remember, that in the Garden of Eden, it was the woman who was the target of the Devil's first attack on Mankind. Today, his strategy is no different; if you corrupt the women, you corrupt society.

In our search for a suitable role model for today’s youth, we need look no further than the Mother of God, the Blessed Virgin Mary. She is the heavenly mother of us all and the perfect role model for young people, especially women. Unfortunately, most young people today do not know their heavenly mother; many perhaps have never even heard of her. It is our goal, therefore, to bring Mary, and all the virtues that she represents, to as many people as possible. Using the concept of music-based apologetics, our purpose is to provide orthodox Catholic entertainers who can be good role models for these young people, and, at the same time, impart the truths of the faith to them.

To do this we need talented Catholic young ladies who wish to use their musical talents and knowledge of the faith in the service of Our Lord and Our Lady. We are searching for young women who can, in a sense, be a reflection of our heavenly Mother Mary, so, that through the medium of quality music and their own good example, they will bring the message of Christ to today’s youth.

As you go through the pages of this web site, each of the above ideas will be explained in more detail. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Thank you for your interest in Saint Cecilia Classical Productions.
